Chakka Puzhukk / Gudgo Dhaddaylolo

Ingredients:
  • Raw Jackfruit / Chakka - 250g
  • Shallots / Onions - 1/4 cup
  • Red Chilly - 2 to 3 nos
  • Ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Shredded Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Cumin Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green Chillies - 2 to 4 nos
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Hing / Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Coconut Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1/4 cup
Method:
  • Cut jackfruit to small pieces as desired. Cook with turmeric powder and salt to taste. Mash slightly with the back of the ladle.


    • Meanwhile pulse shredded coconut along with cumin powder, green chillies, ginger, garlic, curry leaves and shallots.
      • Make a well in the centre of the jackfruit in the pan.
        • Add coconut mix to the centre and cover it with jackfruit. Cover and let it steam for 5-10mins on low-medium flame. Switch off the flame. 


          • Heat oil for tempering. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. 
          • Further add finely chopped onions/shallots and red chilli. Saute till translucent. 
            • Temper the jackfruit and serve hot.
